Davenport

Davenport is a small but rapidly growing city in northeastern Polk County, nestled along major crossroads just off Interstate 4 and U.S. Highway 27. With a population of about 9,043 as of 2020, it has seen significant expansion in recent years, especially around the western corridor near I‑4, while retaining a charming small-town atmosphere in its historic downtown. Originally founded in the late 19th century around a railroad station—and named after Colonel William Davenport from the Second Seminole War—it was formally incorporated in 1915. Today, Davenport is known as an ideal base for visitors to Walt Disney World and Orlando’s major attractions, offering a quieter, more affordable alternative with easy access to theme parks, shopping at Posner Park, local golf courses, parks, and natural areas nearby .
